Jo prioritises fostering a therapeutic style that is based in being gentle, warm, empathic and curious. She aims to provide a supportive environment where there is a focus on collaborating with the client to reach their goals while ensuring they feel safe and validated. Through Jo’s experience in working with different populations, Jo has developed a more holistic approach in addressing her clients’ difficulties. She ensures therapy remains client-centred and takes into account the impact of an individual’s family, community and at large, their cultural background. In gaining this insight and understanding, Jo hopes to be able to best support her clients in reaching their therapy goals and improving their overall wellbeing.
Jo has experience in providing evidence-based psychological interventions to children, adolescents and adults from a diverse range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds across a number of settings (e.g., private practice, non-for-profit organisations). She has experience and training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Jo also has experience in administering comprehensive psychological/cognitive assessments for both child and adult populations for Autism, ADHD and specific learning disabilities.
She has a special interest in providing psychological treatment for a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, anger and behavioural difficulties, trauma and stress management as well as working with neurodiverse populations.
Jo is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is currently undertaking her Clinical Psychology Registrar programme in order to obtain endorsement in this area.
