Peta prioritises a warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment for those accessing mental health care, as she recognises that taking the step to seek support is a big one, and can be nerve-wracking. Peta takes a client-focused approach to therapy that acknowledges the individual’s strengths, values, and lived experience. Further, she believes that creating lasting changes means tackling challenges holistically – therefore, Peta is committed to engaging key persons (such as other health professionals or family members), where appropriate, to supports the client’s progress and wellbeing.
With experience in private practice, Peta has worked with clients across the lifespan whom experienced a range of mental health concerns, for instance stress management, interpersonal skills, symptoms of depression and anxiety, self-esteem concerns, and coping skills for neurodiverse presentations (e.g., Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). During her work in the public health sector (an inpatient psychiatric unit), Peta has supported clients with psychotic disorders (e.g., schizophrenia), personality disorders, drug and alcohol misuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and mood disorders. Peta has received training in a number of evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Schema Therapy. She also has experience in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to explore a person’s cognitive, behavioural and functional profile.
Peta is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is currently undertaking her Clinical Psychology Registrar programme in order to obtain endorsement in this area. She is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
